Eagle homes tend to be larger, taller and glassier than the valley average, with two-story entryways and a lot of west-facing window wall. That is lovely at six in the evening and unforgiving about streaks. It also means a meaningful share of the glass is genuinely out of reach from the ground, which is where most homeowner window-cleaning attempts stop. In cottonwood season, seed fluff sticks to wet glass and to freshly washed frames, so we time exterior work around it rather than through it.
The Boise River and Eagle Island corridor is lined with mature cottonwoods, and cottonwood is the worst tree in the valley for a gutter. In late May and June it drops seed fluff that mats into a wet felt and blocks a downspout faster than leaves do. Then the leaves arrive in autumn on top of it. Homes along the river genuinely need three visits a year: after cottonwood season, after leaf drop, and a spring check.

Cottonwood seed releases in late May and June and lands as a light fluff. Once it is wet it mats together into a dense felt that traps everything landing on top of it and blocks downspouts. It is more disruptive than leaves because it packs rather than piles.
